In the month of March, orchestra students from the 5th grade through senior year go to Edwardsville high school to play at the Tiger Town Concert. Tiger Town is a 1 hour and 30-minute concert, where students may play 1-4 songs. 5th graders from every elementary school in district 7 will join to play their first Tiger town concert. This is very special moment because people can hear what they sound like now, and when they improve in later years! Lilly Kamm, a 7th grader at Liberty Middle School, says that she really enjoys Tiger Town. Her favorite part about Tiger Town is seeing her friends from other schools. The reason for this is because some of her friends go to Lincoln and she’s not able to see them often. Lillian Barth, a 7th grader at Liberty Middle School, says that her favorite song she played was Themes. She liked it the most because it had the most styles, sounded the best, and overall was extremely fun.
The last song of the entire concert is always Old to Joy. This is played by every grade that attended. Melissa Banker, the orchestra teacher at Liberty Middle School, says that they chose this song because it was easy for the 5th graders, and sounds amazing once every grade comes together! Overall, Tiger Town is a very fun experience for every student, and everyone can make lots of memories.
