This year’s musical at Liberty was Starmites. In this musical, Eleanor gets sucked into a comic book and must save interspace. Some of the main characters, Evelyn Mauer and Vivian Matthews, were interviewed to see their perspective on the show. When asked what was one of her favorite parts of being a lead, Evelyn answered, “being on stage.” Many people feel the same way. When we asked Vivian what factors of the show are stressful, she said that having to memorize lines and being under pressure were the most stressful.
Like the actors, the directors also play a huge role in the production of this musical. The director, Amanda Gibson, who is also the choir teacher here at Liberty, along with co – director Missy Banker, who is the Orchestra teacher worked for months to get this musical going. When we asked Mrs. Gibson and Mrs. Banker what characteristics make a good actor, they both said a willingness to follow direction. Nova Rockwell, an 8th grader here at Liberty, is the Stage Manager. When asked why she joined the tech crew, she said it would be a fun experience. As you can see, a lot goes into producing a show. Everyone involved has a huge role. Every part is important.
