8TH GRADERS MAKE PROGRESS TOWARDS GIRL SCOUT SILVER AWARD

Eighth graders Madeline Redden and Olivia Sayuk have been making progress towards their Girl Scout Silver Award. The award is the second highest award in Girl Scouts and only 10% of girls earn it. One of the requirements of the award is to develop a project that has a long term effect and execute it.

For their project Madeline and Olivia created a club that focuses on teaching students the importance of cyber security.

“I chose cyber security because I am interested in all the computer stuff,” Madeline said. “I think the knowledge of cyber security is important because that is how you know how to protect yourself and computers from malicious actions.”

The club meets on the first Wednesday every month after school at Liberty. Madeline and Olivia plan on teaching new topics every other month from September through April.
