Q and A with Mr. Manley

You all may know Mr. Manley as the custodian that you see at lunch, and around the building. But do you know how he came to Liberty? He has been at Liberty for years, and we wanted to know more.

Q: How many years have you been working here at Liberty?

A: I’ve been here for 8 years.

Q: Mr. Manley, how do you like it here at Liberty?

A: I came from Collinsville High School. I used to work there for about 8 years. Then I came here because it paid little bit more money, and this is why I came here.  I’d started working nights during 2:45 to 11:15.

Q: What is it like working here at Liberty?

A: It’s an awesome job, and well, it’s an awesome school. The kids are great, and I enjoy my job. When I was at Collinsville there were days I didn’t really want to go to work. But when I got here I was getting comfortable with the staff and getting comfortable with the kids. I enjoy my job.

Q: So how it was like back in your old school and were there any students that you disliked or favored?

A: Yeah my son was there at the time. So I enjoyed him and his friends.  Other than that, like I said the kids here have been amazing to me.

Q: How would you like us as students make your job easier?

A: Just being responsible for yourself, and if you make a mess, clean it up. That will make not only make my job easier, but that’ll make the school last longer. That will make the world a better place.

Q: Any change to the school you like?

A: I wouldn’t change a thing. You know we all have flaws; some of us are good and bad. But still I wouldn’t change a thing.

Q: Are there any memories here that you like?

A: Yeah, girl and boys basketball, boys football, scholar bowl, I enjoy all of that. If I’m not working I try to come to the student games, or games or student scholar bowl. You know I just try to get involved.

Q: What was your middle school?

A: Clark Junior High, in East St. Louis

Q: When and where were you born?

A: 1969, Nashville, Tennessee

Q: Do you have children?

A: I have two: a boy and a girl. My son is 26 and my daughter is 18.

Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be?

A: I’m a Spiderman fan.
