It’s said that sometimes change is difficult. The same could certainly be true in the case of ongoing renovations to Liberty’s main gym floor. Due to damages from an unexpected water leak during a recent boys’ volleyball practice, the entire floor needed to be completely removed and replaced. This unfortunate event has required all indoor athletic activities to be relocated to the B gym, creating challenges with PE classes, school assemblies, as well as practices and games for girls and boy’s athletic teams.
Despite the setback, leaders at Liberty see the gym issue as an opportunity, not a roadblock. “I’m excited to design a new gym floor. Anytime we can update our building it’s exciting,” says Liberty Athletic Director, Ashley Walsh.
Eighth grade hooper, Eli Noascono also sees advantages in having a new floor as well. “I hope it’s different. The old floor was a bit slippery.” Eighth grade volleyball player Addy I

berg agrees. “I’m excited for a new floor. The old floor was waxed and made it hurt when diving for a ball.”
Change is coming to Liberty, but as we’ll soon learn with a new gym floor, sometimes, that can actually be a good thing.
