March Madness, a tournament almost all of us know. You don’t have to be a sports fan to love March Madness with thrilling games to watch, brackets to fill, and hopes that your team will win. The first March Madness started off with 8 teams, now there’s 64. The sport of basketball has changed a lot since Oregon won the first March Madness in 1939. There are new rules, new playstyles, and most importantly, brackets.
The bracket is the favorite part of the tournament for many people, and it’s gotten to the point where people start picking based off mascots and more. It now seems that not even just sports fans can love March Madness. Grant Johnson, 8th Grader said, “Florida will win it all for real for real.” It seems many agree that Florida will win the tournament, some however are in opposition, and think Duke will with the tournament.
March Madness has always been a toss up however, and it seems that almost every time you fill out your bracket, something goes wrong and your final four are messed up. Whether it be an 11 seed upsetting a 1 seed in the Elite 8, or your Cinderella story team losing in the first round.
As for players, many have their eyes on one Cooper Flagg, who stands at a towering 6’9. Many have high expectations for the player, as the young forward put up almost 20 points per game, shooting 37% beyond the arc, and 84% with free throw attempts. The forward also had a staggering 6 double doubles in the regular season. Due to these stats, many claim he is the reason that Duke could prevail in the championship, and he could win the tournament for them.
Even with all the upsets and bracket busters, people and their families enjoy March Madness. Whether it’s sitting on the couch, watching the game and eating nachos, or being at the championship game in San Antonio. March Madness is a tournament that everybody can like, and anybody can watch.
