Panthers Win

 

The Liberty Panthers 7th grade baseball team put an absolute beat down on the Highland Bulldogs baseball team by a score of 13-2 on Wednesday night at the EHS Sports Complex.

The Bulldogs team did not come to play, committing five errors and giving up five walks in the Wednesday blowout against the Liberty Panthers.

Mason Voss had an amazing four inning outing against the Bulldogs, giving up two hits and zero earned runs. The Panthers, after a shaky first inning in the field cleaned it up and finished the game with a shutout inning in the fifth.

“Our defense was a little iffy, but our hitting was amazing,” said Braden Burns a pitcher, first basemen, and outfielder on the seventh-grade team.

Blake Burns, a second baseman and left fielder on the team had this to say, “Our pitchers did a great job and were very efficient.”

The Bulldogs pitching staff had a tough afternoon using three pitchers in a five-inning game. The starting pitcher for the Bulldogs committed two balks moving runners into scoring position twice.

The Panthers line up tallied up 9 hits in the game and had a 13-run outburst. The Panthers baserunning helped set them apart in this game tearing up the basepaths in the blow out win.

The Panthers recovered in the first inning after the Bulldogs jumped on the board early. The Panthers had an outburst in the first for five runs in the first inning and another outburst in the second inning for four runs.

The deciding factor in this game was capitalizing on scoring opportunities and capitalizing on mistakes as the Bulldogs made plenty of them and the Panthers capitalized on the mistake.

The Panthers moved to 3-2 on the season with the win Wednesday.
